My Story — Beyond Limits
I was born in Bellinzona, Switzerland, in 1990, and spent ten years studying and living in Lausanne before my life took an unexpected turn.
I discovered freediving in 2018 and immediately fell in love with the sport. That same year, I became an instructor and started competing. But just as my journey was beginning, a medical accident in Egypt left me with a severely perforated eardrum. Doctors in Europe told me I might never dive again.
Two unsuccessful surgeries and nearly two years out of the water followed. Yet I couldn't let go of my dream.
In 2020, during the pandemic, I moved back to Egypt, determined to reconnect with the sea. Despite the uncertainty surrounding my recovery, I gradually returned to diving in Sinai. Just two weeks later, I broke all the Swiss national depth records and won gold medals in my first competition after years away from the sport.
But my journey was far from straightforward.
Over the following years, I underwent three more ear surgeries while continuing to train, compete internationally, break national records and represent Switzerland at two World Championships.
In 2023, my fifth surgery finally succeeded. After another year of recovery, I was able to return to the depths in March 2024. That season, I set seven new National Records, proving to myself that perseverance, patience and determination can turn even the most difficult setbacks into opportunities for growth.
Then, in June 2025, I achieved a dream that once seemed impossible: my first Freediving World Record. I descended to 50 metres (165 feet) without fins in the dark freshwater depths of a Mexican cenote, relying entirely on my own strength, technique and mental control.
That record represents much more to me than a sporting achievement. It is the culmination of years of uncertainty, setbacks, recovery and unwavering belief. It reminds me that our limits are not always where we think they are.
In 2025, I also earned my first invitation to Vertical Blue in the Bahamas, one of the world's most prestigious freediving competitions.
Today, I'm not only a competitive freediver, but also a yoga, rock climbing, freediving and alpine skiing instructor, a sailor and a lifelong lover of movement, adventure and nature.
Based between Switzerland and Egypt, I travel the world to train, compete, explore and share my experiences.
Through inspirational keynote speeches, corporate workshops, coaching and outdoor adventures, I bring the lessons I've learned underwater into everyday life: how to remain calm under pressure, adapt to uncertainty, build resilience and find the courage to step beyond our comfort zones.
My greatest ambition goes beyond breaking records. I want to inspire others to discover their own potential, embrace challenges with curiosity and courage, and develop a deeper connection with themselves and the natural world.
Because sometimes, the greatest discoveries happen when we dare to go beyond what we thought was possible.
